The CNSE Children's Museum of Science and Technology (CNSE CMOST),
part of the College of Nanoscale Science and
Engineering (CNSE), is the only science center in Tech Valley designed specifically
for kids and parents to Explore, Discover, and Imagine the world of science together!

Summer Science: Flying High
Have you ever wished you could fly or wondered how an airplane works? Join CNSE CMOST in an exploration of the science of flight. We'll learn about the forces involved in flight, create flying contraptions of our own and more in this hands-on science workshop! Ages 5+, pre-registration is required, free for CNSE CMOST members, $2.00 for non-members plus admission to the museum.
Thursday, August 28
10:00 - 11:30 AM
Sensory Play: Gears
Help your child improve motor skills and awareness of how the world works. Join CNSE CMOST in the GE Junior Discovery room for a hands-on sensory science activity. This week we will explore gears! Pre-registration is not required, and is included with museum admission. Recommended for children 2-6 years of age.
Thursday, August 28
3:30 - 4:30 PM
Engineer It: Balloon Cars
How do objects move? What puts them in motion and what keeps them in motion? Join CNSE CMOST to find out. Participants will work together in teams to design, build, test and improve cars powered by a single balloon. Ages 8+, pre-registration is required, free for CNSE CMOST members, $2.00 for non-members plus admission to the museum.
A group of girls received a unique firsthand look at the exciting world of nanotechnology
when they attended Summer NanoCamp at the newly merged SUNY College of Nanoscale Science and
Engineering (SUNY CNSE) / SUNY Institute of Technology (SUNYIT) on August 15, part of a
collaboration between SUNY CNSE/SUNYIT and the CNSE Children's Museum of Science and Technology

My Parent & Me
A five week session for preschoolers that provides a chance for kids and parents to interact, explore, imagine and discover the world of science. All programs include arts and crafts, and a preschool educational program as well as take-home activities and a reading list to continue the learning experience outside of the museum.
Magnetic Ball Wall
Discover your inner physicist at CNSE CMOST’s Magnetic Ball Wall! Construct a
path that twists and turns or create a direct route and see how long it takes for the ball to travel from the beginning to the end. Learn about kinetic and potential energy, momentum and the force of gravity as you explore and experiment with the Magnetic Ball Wall.
Skyline Tool Box
Design, build, test, and engineer 3D structures with CNSE CMOST’s Skyline Tool Box. This new exhibit, designed by Chicago Children’s Museum, provides a design-it-yourself experience with real hardware, tools, and materials that allow you to create imaginative, original structures that are big enough to walk inside. Visit the Skyline Tool Box exhibit and see what you can construct!
