Living Indoor Hudson River

Explore the unique environment of one of America's most historically significant tidal rivers. Our 75 foot long Living Indoor Hudson River exhibit allows visitors to travel from the river's source in the Adirondacks all the way to its end, the Atlantic Ocean. The Living Indoor Hudson River exhibit is home to:

Interpretive Center

Houses several exhibit components that allow kids and their families to have more interaction and hands-on fun all while enjoying the Hudson River experience, including live animals and touch screen games.

Invasive Species

Are there Aliens amongst us?! No, not from outer space! These invaders are actually exotic plants and animals that threaten our native lands and their natural inhabitants. Visit the Hudson River Interpretive Center and find out about creatures such as the Emerald Ash Borer and the Chinese Mitten Crab and find out why they are so bothersome

Watershed Table

Watersheds are important because the stream running through your backyard lead to the Hudson River or another large body of water. So what you do where you live affects the water quality somewhere else! We all live downstream of someone! The Watershed Table exhibit represents the area around CMOST and the interactive table top highlights different features of the local landscape. The drawers of the exhibit are filled with different artifacts for hands on exploration!

Butterfly House

The Butterfly House at CMOST provide kids with the unique opportunities to learn as they witness the complete lifecycle of the butterfly.  Kids and families are able to see the complete metamorphosis of the butterfly eggs into caterpillars, watch the caterpillars create their chrysalis, and finally transform into a butterfly.
