Weather Front

Have you ever wondered where our weather comes from? What about how they forecast it on TV? Well wonder no more! Visitors of CMOST can answer these questions and several more in the new and improved Weather Front exhibit! The expansion of this exhibit has been funded in part by Troy Savings Bank Foundation. Kids will be able to learn about weather systems and how weather changes by practicing their own weather forecasts in front of a green screen, and then broadcasting onto a large screen TV.

There will also be a local weather data station within the exhibit. The up to the minute data is being captured within the Rensselaer Technology Park and provided through a collaboration with the US Geological Survey and MESO, a company that conducts atmospheric research, forecasting and simulations from weather data. Kids and their families will not only be immersed in the excitement of forecasting the weather - they will also be educated in the technology that goes on behind the scenes!
