Hudson River Valley Ramble Event: Fantastic Creature Feature

What Hudson River animal has the most amazing adaptations? Who has the best camouflage? Can you name an animal that sees light without using its head? If you're curious, this program is for you! We will explore Hudson River habitats and learn how animals in and out of the water are uniquely adapted to life along the Hudson. Children will also create a cool Hudson River creature to take home. Ages 4+ Pre-registration is required. Free for CMOST Members, $2.00 Non-members plus admission to The Museum

Hudson River Valley Ramble Event: Animal Tracks, Homes & Bones

Have you ever wondered what animals do all day? Join CMOST staff as we take a peek into their world try to find out. Animal tracks tell many stories, and together we will learn to read these subtle signs and discover how local animals survive and cope with varying weather and environmental conditions. Learning to identify animal tracks and signs is a lot of fun and once you know the basics, family walks will be full of new discovery and delight. Workshop will include plaster track casting and a walk outside to track and discover who is active around The Museum. Ages 4+ Pre-registration is required. Free for CMOST Members, $2.00 Non-members plus admission to The Museum

Hudson River Valley Ramble Event: Homing in on the Hudson

Join us on a journey from the Adirondack Mountains to New York Harbor as we travel along the 80-foot Living Hudson River exhibit. We'll learn about biotic vs. abiotic characteristics of the Hudson, experiment with water quality and meet some of the river's fascinating inhabitants. Then we'll head outdoors to investigate a tributary of the Hudson that runs along side CMOST's interpretive trail. Ages 4+ Pre-registration is required. Homeschool Lab: Bang, Twang, Toot: The Science of Sound

From guitars to drums, learn all about how musical instruments make sounds. Explore waves on springs and in water, experiment with vibrations to produce different sounds, and take home an instrument you make yourself! Ages: 6 to 11 year olds, $6.00 per child.
