Outreach & Festivals
CMOST's Outreach programs are amazingly popular and provide a great hands-on educational opportunity using live animals. These programs are designed for groups of up to 25 children. We can accommodate more than 25 if we are able to split them into groups and run two or more separate programs (see pricing).
Each Outreach program lasts approximately 45 minutes to one hour. Download our Outreach Program Brochure
- Animal Tales (Pre-K to 2nd grade):
Listen to some fabulous animal stories such as The Greedy Python by Eric Carle. Then meet the live stars of the stories from our own animal collection. - Look, Listen, & Touch (Pre-K to 1st grade):
Using live animals, music and tactile objects, this class is an introduction to the five senses, descriptive adjectives, shapes and textures. - Where Do You Call Home? (Pre-K to 1st grade):
Find out about human and animal homes along the Hudson River. Explore how Mohicans lived, meet aquatic and land animals and investigate basic life needs. - Leaping Lizards & Rocking Reptiles (2nd-5th grade):
Meet live reptiles and learn all about this animal kingdom group. Learn why they shed skin, change temperature, have shells, stick out their tongues and much more! - Molecules In Motion (2nd - 5th grade):
Join in an exploration of matter. Through many fun and fascinating science experiments children will learn about the three states of matter, the size of atoms and molecules, and various different types of chemical reactions. - Whats the Weather? (2nd - 5th grade):
Where does our weather come from? Participants will work actively to answer this question while doing hands on experiments with air pressure, wind direction, the water cycle and various other weather elements. - Exploring Color (2nd - 5th grade):
Have you ever experimented with color? Have you really gotten your hands dirty and created a color explosion, or separated the colors in a black marker? Participants will do all this and more as they learn the science behind color and we see it! - Electrifying Science (3rd - 5th grade):
Learn about the basics of electricity. We will explore static, experiment with a Van de Graaf generator and explore magnetics with various hands on experiments.
