The Science of Small – Nano Camp!
What is nanotechnology and what makes it so interesting? Join CNSE CMOST in this camp for all things super small and nano. This camp is an introduction to nanotechnology and an exploration of the future! Campers will be immersed in the world of nanotechnology as they experiment with nano concepts. Campers will meet professionals from the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE) who will share their knowledge. They will also have the opportunity to visit CNSE and explore everything nano from the gowning up process to the work that happens in the clean rooms. (One full day of Nano camp will be held at the CNSE. Parents must drop off and pick up campers in Albany on that day.)
Solar Science & Sprint Cars
Join CNSE CMOST in an exploration of all things solar! Campers will be immersed in the world of solar energy. We will learn all about solar energy and how it works and then put our new knowledge to the test by building a solar cell using blackberry juice, creating a solar cooker and then the ultimate challenge of developing, designing and
deploying a solar sprint car. On the last day of camp we will hold solar sprint car competitions here at CNSE CMOST!
GIST - Girls in Science and Technology Tween Camps
The Girls In Science and Technology camps are for ladies only and are designed to engage young women in hands-on scientific exploration in a nurturing environment. Curriculum for the GIST programs is developed and taught by CMOST educators and visiting scientists.
Digs - An Archeological Experience
This camp is presented by Hartgen Archeological Associates in cooperation
with CNSE CMOST
Campers will dig into local history, uncovering buried artifacts from The Rensselaer Tech Park’s historic site in North Greenbush, NY. Following a tried and true curriculum, this camp provides attendees with hands-on archeological experience that is both educational and fun. Following an orientation which introduces attendees to the history of the site and the tools of the archeological trade, the program covers everything from excavation to artifact identification. The program concludes with the creation of an exhibit that shows what the students have learned about the site.
