Summer Camp

CMOST Summer Camp is great for scientific exploration, and a wonderful place where children will have the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and meet new friends, gain confidence in their skills, and feel good about who they are while learning new things!

CMOST provides an environment that fosters scientific creativity with hands-on activities all done within a secure infrastructure, and under knowledgeable guidance of our educators. Children are encouraged to find their science and technology passions on their own terms in an informal educational setting without deadlines, homework, or exams.

At camp children play and learn together where trial, failure and creative experimentation is encouraged. New this Summer - we're taking the learning offsite! We're partnering with the Parker School and LaSalle Institute to expand our learning campus.

Junior - grades 1-4

7/8 – 7/12 – Dinosaur Detectives: What do we really know about the dinosaurs of long ago? In this camp children will get hands-on as they experiment with measuring the size of dinosaurs, practicing their dino excavating skills and becoming junior paleontologists. We will even learn about the dinosaurs’ reptilian cousins that live at CMOST.

7/15 – 7/19 – Insect Investigations: What is an insect?  What makes them so cool?  Join us as we explore insects from top to bottom.  We will discover insects that are good for the environment and find out why. We may even come across some insects that are not helpful to the area they live in. Dress to head outside and examine insects in their natural environment, and learn ways to protect insects that are doing their jobs. Stories, creative activities and motion are included each day.

7/22 – 7/26 – Full STEAM Ahead: Let’s go on a STEAM adventure. Each day will be packed with fun activities that help us learn all about science, technology, engineering, art and math. Experiments, art projects, creating, building, tinkering and a few new ways of looking at math will make this a week packed with excitement

Senior Grades 5-9

7/8 – 7/12 – Can you dig it? An archeological adventure: Join our resident archaeology/anthropology expert as we learn the importance of discovering our past. We will examine artifacts, find out where they fit in history and then experience the process of a real archaeological dig. Campers will use their discoveries to set up a temporary exhibit to share with our visitors.

7/15 – 7/19 – Animation Creation: Make a movie from start to finish using stop motion animation! Campers will create a storyboard, build a set, develop scene transitions, and edit a film to perfection. At the end of the week we will present a screening of our movies for families and museum visitors. See you at the movies!
